C'est si bon

I've got an achy hand from writing cheques. Paying lots of bills all at once can give one the almighty hump, but I was cheered up no end when chef emerged from the kitchen carrying two plates. Sebastien's come up with a pair of divine specials - one monkfish, one lamb - that I enjoyed sampling at noon. So now I'm very full and very happy.

Yum, excellent varied menu.
There's nothing on there I wouldn't enjoy.

Top ten signs you're living in a not so modern country. Today at number 8; you write cheques.

Honestly? it really made me laugh, very 1985.

bengt, if I pay via internet banking, the money leaves my account with the click of a mouse. If I pay via cheque, it might be days until someone cashes it. It's all about cashflows, you tosser.

Great!

Re Prof; my connection is double speed extra everything, that's why my post doubled, easy :)

Re Jeffrey; Thanks for the history lesson, had no idea how cheques work! I suppose you put them in an envelop and then mail them? I'll have to ask my grandfather next time I see him :)

'poncy london gastro shit' - funny how people can appreciate interesting tastes when it comes to beer (or why would they be reading beer blogs on the internet?), but don't want the same in food.
can't be the prices, they're only a pound or so higher than the revolting burgers or microwaved rubbish in many other pubs in the area. eating most pub food is exactly the same as the undemanding types drinking away their 3+ pound pints of cooking lager.

re: the menu - shame the peas with the fish and chips are minted...

Mmmm, black pudding. One of the things I'm really looking forward to eating again when I visit the UK in October.
