A beer blog that isn't shit
If I said there were too many people writing beer blogs and that the vast majority of them were shit, I'd suffer an online lynching from the usual haters. So I won't. I'll keep that opinion to myself.
This evening Eddie - a mad-eyed lanky barman in my employ - told me that he and his flatmate have started their own online journal to chronicle their beery exploits in London. I noted down the web address and retired upstairs to my study (that's what I'm going to start calling my office) to check it out. I was fearful that the boys' efforts would bring shame upon me, this fine pub and the village of Clerkenwell.
So I was pleasantly surprised: it's excellent. You've done us proud, lads. Here's the site - Hip Hops.

It's good! They need to get the feed sorted (it doesn't come up in the address bar, meaning lazy bastards like me have to do a bit of faffing to add it to Google reader), but still.. looking good.
Remember Bell, APRK doesn't count as a beer blog. I am not a hater, there is just one particular individual on this scene that I find rather repulsive. I don't think I need to elaborate.
Tell them to be cautious using "hip hops" as it has been the slogan of Utobeer since 1999.
I doubt a writ will be served.
No easy to link to feed. Please Sort it! Will read on Stonchs rccomend.
If you did say that most blogs were shit, just suppose you did, then I'd have to potentially agree with you as - yes - most UK beer blogs are written by nobodies who know very little about beer, haven't travelled anywhere to broaden their horizons and think their output is worthy of a read when all it's fit for is to try and fill up the internet.
But, I quite like yours... honest!! it's different, more so with the pub, and it's one of only five or so I feel worthy of a look.
I don't do one as I can't be arsed.
I see from the blog that you serve Summer Lightning in your pub - for that reason and your delightful blog I indeed to visit the Gunmakers next time I'm in town.
Here in Ireland you've got more chance of getting a nosh off the Pope than you have of getting decent beer - unless stout, stout, stout, Heineken, Heineken or shit bottled cider is your gig.
Summer Lightning is the most famous brew of the brilliant Hop Back Brewery in Wiltshire.I'd also recommend their session beer GFB.
Erm, if I was to say there are too many grammar and spelling mistakes on this new blog I would probably get slagged off as a pedant.
So I'll keep it to myself.
I am the first to admit that anything that I write online is shit. I just happen to write about beer - well sometimes.
As the writer of a shit blog (yes, I know the readership numbers never lie), I say, go easy on us. We are all enthusiatic consumers trying hard to encourage others to spread their wings as far as beer is concerned. Any advice is always gratefully received. Self-doubt is a very human characteristic. This is the place for therapy isn't it ? Steve
For those having trouble with the RSS feed, just view one of the individual posts and the autodiscovery thing will come up.
What's all this chat about feeds and RSS? What are you people talking about? I assume my site doesn't have the requisite "feed" as I don't even know what it is!
PS. In any case anyone's wondering why comments are taking ages to come out of moderation, it's because my internet connection at the pub is down and I haven't got much access as a result.
Got to agree with you about the feed thing Jeffrey. I tried sorting it out last night, but have no idea about all this kinda thing and it gave me a headache. If anyone wants to be our technical support, let us know!
P.S. It was very rude of me not to give a massive thanks for this shout out. Thanks.
@Wundermic I have emailed Jeffrey the code you need to add for this RSS stuff as you can not post it here on the comments.
cheers
Aj
Hey Jeffrey. I stumbled upon your blog this afternoon. Good stuff and for sure there are lots of shitty beer blogs. Being in the US, I am getting a kick out of some of the phrases your guys use, as I'm sure you do about us. Well, time to get the drinking weekend started. I'll be back. Let me know if you think my blog is one of the shitty ones.
