Announcement: London's Oktober Fest 2008
Lots of you came along to London's German beer fest in May. It was jointly organised by Bier-Mania and this blog, and was held at Zietgeist in Lambeth. If you did make it, you'll remember two things about it:
- It was absolutely in-effing-credible, with 19 different gravity fed beers from small German breweries served in a fantastic venue.
- It was so popular, the beer ran out a day early. Sorry about that.
A PDF version of the beer list is here. Bier-Mania is a tour operator run by beer enthusiasts that organises extended trips across Europe and in Colorado, USA. Zietgeist is London's premier German pub, owned and operated by a couple from Cologne. This blog is a website written by someone who hurt himself last week and made a bit drama of it.

Wish I could be there! I tried a few at Bruxellensis, but it would have been nice to give them my undivided attention.
It looks like an excellent beer list indeed. Zeitgeist is a great destination even without a beer festival on.
One odd thing - I wonder why they used a star of David in the background image for the pdf beer list. Beer is not exactly associated with Jewish tradition.....
ah, I see they've edited the image on the jpg but not the pdf you linked to.
The date on the poster is Sept so they'll need to amend it again...
Sorry for the repeated comments - i got a response back from Andy of Beer mania concerning the "star of david". Turns out it's the brewers star.

but i guess the rest of you knew this already :)
Gah, shame there's not more notice on this (I mean from the organisers, not Stonch - don't want to shoot the messenger).
Will do my best to get there.
Hello Coach,
We've had it up awhile (since 11 September).
We have also been in Munich the last 2 weeks so haven't had much time on the net.
Cheers and hope maybe to see you there!
Andy
The 'star of David' is actually the brewers star and comes from alchemy-earth, fire, wind and water. It was also used to stamp barrels of beer as a sign of quality and is still used in 'Zoigl Land', the area in the Oberfpalz near the Czech border to signify that the Zoigl house has beer ready!
There we go.
Cheers,
Andy
Damn! For the May festival I turned up on the Saturday afternoon and missed all the beer; this time I can't make it at all.
Still, I hope it goes well! That way there's more likely to be a next time...
I should be there Thursday evening
Andy - cheers, and apologies for sounding like a grouch. I hadn't looked at your blog site before, so it's my fault for missing the info really.
On a side note - without wanting to sound like a terrible old fart, do you know if Zeitgeist will be regaling us with pounding, conversation-scuppering music this time around? Or was that only on the Friday night last time? Hoping to make it down on Saturday late-ish afternoon with a couple of pals.
Hello Guys,
Not long to go!
Not sure on the music front as that's Juergen domain (he is the landlord!)-we didn't really notice any music in any case, there was just this constant 'noise' for the 2 nights! Ha ha!
Well, we now have 4 nights and if zee Brits get through 1000 litres then I will eat my hat. Maybe.
Cheers,
Andy
