Grauniad

The abundance of typos in the Guardian has earned the newspaper an enduring nickname: the Grauniad. For the benefit of those who are reading this from abroad, it's a centre-left newspaper that looks positively red when compared to the hateful, hard-right shite that makes up the bulk of Britain's press. It has its roots in Manchester, but is now produced in my manor - Clerkenwell, London.

I'd always assumed no-one checked it prior to going to print. How else can one explain the blatant errors that have dogged the paper since time immemorial? I was wrong. Earlier this evening I found the proofs of tomorrow's paper lying discarded on a table in our pub's back room. Clearly those tasked with spotting gremlins are drinking on the job. Mystery solved.

Ah that's the problem solved. They did the editing before a few tipples at Stonches. Bet the next edition will be perfect.

I believe The Guardian are moving to new premises in Kings Cross on the canalside in the next few months.

C'mon Stonch, get a grip. What about some of the (really) hateful hard-left shite that The Guardian dished out to Boris? And where would the paper be without the £millions it gets from local authority non-jobs recruitment advertising? Up Shit Street probably. Anyway, I would say that the typos that were the hallmark of The Grauniad have long gone - probably because of spellchecker. Or maybe the subs drink or smoke less at luncheon.

hard right, the bulk of english press? ok the mail and possibly the express, but not hard right and not the bulk. i think "hard" might give the wrong impression to overseas readers here.

Mmm...I've always felt that certain Brits' defence of the UK press as 'not at all right wing' just demonstrates how far to the right the centre is here vs other countries - esp. those on our doorstep. The Guardian, let's face it, is probably in third place behind What's Brewing and BBER in most discerning ale drinkers' reading matter. Long may that continue.

Jeff - I do hope you don't lose sandal-wearing trade as the Guardian types up sticks to King's Cross...

hard right, hard left?? The only thing hard about the British press are the members of construction workers everywhere after reading page 3 of The Sun.

Popping down the pub during working hours is a fine old Fleet Street tradition - check out the stories at this site for old hacks ...
