Rome wasn't drunk in a day

Next weekend, me and the lads will be boozing in the Trastevere. That's right, we're going back to Rome already. It seems they can't get rid of us. Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fa', here we come.

The Italian brewing scene has already begun to receive the recognition it deserves here in the UK. Now Don Russell, writing for the Philapdelpia Daily News, has been spreading the word in the US: Italy - the next great brewmaster?

Rome *again*? Whatever happened to Norwich where your loyal readership voted to send you on our behalf as long ago as November? Why do we bother?

Well, that's a good question.

Norwich was scheduled to happen this weekend, but then we found out trains were £40 each, causing much wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the lads. So we'll book for some point in the future to get it cheaper.

As for Rome, it's actually tagged on to the beginning of a week long holiday I'm taking. I need a holiday. I really do.

Can't you just drive to Norwich?

Stonch,
you can get a national express "funfare" to naarch from london for £1 if your lucky, if not it will be in the £4 area, yeah it takes longer, but that gives you more drinking time right? There are other ways to get there, but they arent so legal! Us east anglians are wanting some love!

Hi Stonch & Anon - the link to Don Russells blog doesn't seem to work for some reason, but this one should

http://joesixpack.net/blog/

He graciously "bigs up" a London-based blogger who's been covering the Italian beerscene "for the past year"
cheers,

Links now fixed. Sorry about that.

The thought of a coach journey to distant Norwich is enough to part me with forty quid!

In Whorsts absence should I also be asking about the Pedigree at the Cockpit? Much cheaper than a train fare but I suppose one could debate the value!

Hello Good afternoon to you,

Can you please review some draught lager on your site, maybe Carling or Stella?

Also Northern Italy is rubbish, you should go to Puglia.

Thanks.

I agree with the comment above. I am a good looking lad and look great in jeans.

Never trust people who think beer subdivides into "lager", "bitter" and "Guinness". Never trust people who say they like chain bars because "they always know what they're getting". Never trust people who list "socialising" as an interest on their CV. Never trust people who can't give a straightforward answer when you ask them where they're from. Never trust people who invite you on skiing trips when you have never expressed any interest in the sport (or indeed their company). Never trust blokes who try and ban the c-word from conversation because their bird doesn't like it (just say it more). Never trust people who "don't like to lose control". Finally and most importantly, never, ever trust people who don't drink beer, unless they have a very good excuse - and for the avoidance of doubt, being an uptight, miserable sod is not a very good excuse.
