The Hawley Arms, Camden's leading music pub, went up in flames on Saturday evening. The same fire laid waste to much of the area's famous market. Where will the emo kids buy their cheap shit? As usual BBC News Online has the gen. Holy Moly blog takes a more irreverent approach.
Never trust people who think beer subdivides into "lager", "bitter" and "Guinness".
Never trust people who say they like chain bars because "they always know what they're getting".
Never trust people who list "socialising" as an interest on their CV.
Never trust people who can't give a straightforward answer when you ask them where they're from.
Never trust people who invite you on skiing trips when you have never expressed any interest in the sport (or indeed their company).
Never trust blokes who try and ban the c-word from conversation because their bird doesn't like it (just say it more).
Never trust people who "don't like to lose control".
Finally and most importantly, never, ever trust people who don't drink beer, unless they have a very good excuse - and for the avoidance of doubt, being an uptight, miserable sod is not a very good excuse.

Remarkably similar to what happened in Birmingham just over a year ago.
not sure you can compare the destruction of a massive part of camden market and a famous pub to a nightclub in birmingham burning down
this is terrible.
Surely this will actually *improve* Camden?
I live across the canal, and I still have no idea what happened! (This could be because every time I read the words A** W******** I compulsively close the browser window)
Look on the bright side. This leaves the way clear for the giant SUV Dealership we all know Camden desperately needs.
Stonch said "Where will the emo kids buy their cheap shit?" someone over on (old school usenet newsgroup) uk.food+drink.real-ale asked whether they served cask beer, so I did some googling & found that they do/did. Apparently Amy used to drink the house wine (dry, I would imagine). Excuse the awful 'pun on words' above.
see - http://tinyurl.com/2ud94y for the ukf+dra bit
MicMac, it doesn't surprise me that the Hawley served cask ale - I can't think of many "real" pubs in these parts that don't. Quite often the beer in these places is pretty good as they only have one or two on at a time, which means it turns over at a decent rate.
For example I've had perfect pints of Sharp's Special in The Good Mixer on Inverness St in Camden. It's the kind of place your stereotypical ale drinker would assume wouldn't serve real ale at all, let alone in good condition. However because they only have one hand pump in operation, it isn't a problem.
Good to hear, Stonch. & yep, I'd much rather have 1 or a couple of (well-chosen, well-kept) cask beers in some pubs, rather than the frustrating situation in some pubs with a slew of gleaming handpulls, all serving beer past its best!
thank you nice sharing
