Stonch's BrewCam - timelapse video

Here's the final video of last week's fermentation: six days of yeast orgy condensed into three minutes of fascinating viewing.

We've decided to name our creation Judy Garland Stout, and you'll hear her singing Howard Arlen's classic Get Happy! as you watch the video. Just like her, it grew up in the public eye, and turned out very bitter...

Cheers to Dave the Goon who put the video together while suffering from a monster hangover. At one point he considered giving up, suggesting I put together a flipbook and mail it out to readers. Thank also to the BrewCam's sponsors, Hop & Grape. They're Britain's leading homebrew supplier, and can send you everything you need to create your own brews. Have a bash at homebrewing, you won't regret it.

Watch out - next week the BrewCam will be back in action.

Seriously impressed with your "yeast monster". I hope my Coopers brew goes like that!!

the stout needs about three weeks in the barrel before it's ready to face the world.

Great watch Stonch and Dave!

Sometimes i watch my own fermentations and airlocks like its telly or something, but your plan is much better!

Is the flipbook also available for serious 'Stonch & Goon' fans?

Stonch,

I love the video, can I post it on my blog with all proper referencing going to you? That's great!

What's the brewcam going to be trained on next?

Stonch said...

John, the next brew is another kit, but a top quality one - Scammonden Dark from Brupaks.

"SCAMMONDEN DARK is a rich, dark ale in the style of a Porter. Its blend of pale, crystal and roasted malts, together with subtle hop additions, afford this beer a great complexity of flavour. It has great character and will appeal to those who prefer their beers to be assertive."

You can't fall off with brupaks. I'd heartily recommend the Almondsbury Old. It has bags of malty flavour without compromising on the hops which give it slightly spicy notes that hit you in the back of the nose after each mouthful. A good autumn beer in my book.

Oh and it has a lovely ruby glow when you hold the glass up to the light, sure the taste is the main thing but it also helps if the beer looks good too!

You're in the right neck of the woods to maybe know the answer to this question - Fleet River Brewing?

They have a webpage and a bouncing email address, and were due to start up around Easter. If you're in Clerkenwell/Farringdon, the Fleet River passes your front door. Any info on this supposed brewery?

Stonch said...

Sid, no word on the Fleet Brewery. As you said, their website is untouched and email address bounces (I tried it last month).

According to Quaffale they were intending to brew keg beers, which didn't sound too promising. We've already got a London brewery devoted to that and I'm not sure we want any more.

Loved the video. Stumbled upon this looking for a recipe for something similar to banana bread beer. Hoping to use a kit (and some how) this stack of bananas I have here ;-)

Cheers!
